Christmas Sharing of Wheaton Warrenville

Christmas Sharing is an all-volunteer charitable organization run by a coalition of Wheaton and Warrenville, Illinois churches that provides assistance to families in need during the Christmas season. Families are assisted without regard to their religious affiliation and our goal is to make their holidays a little brighter. The area we serve lies within the geographic boundary of Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200.

Christmas Sharing volunteers collect food, gently used clothing, toys and cash from District 200 schools, local churches, scouting groups, libraries, civic groups, small businesses, corporations and individuals. In early December of each year, items are sorted and distributed from eight church locations, to families in need as identified by school social workers.

Our mission is one of simple compassion—to make Christmas a little more joyful for our neighbors in need.

Magdalene House

Magdalene House Chicago is committed to sharing the mission of the community of Magdalene. That is by nurturing transformative, sustainable change for healing and freedom, Magdalene House Chicago stands in solidarity with women who have survived lives of trafficking, prostitution, addiction and homelessness. Magdalene is a recovery program for women who have histories of substance abuse and prostitution. It was founded in 1996 by Becca Stevens, an Episcopal priest and chaplain of St. Augustine's Church at Vanderbilt University.

The system of recovery practiced at Magdalene is based on the twelve steps and twelve traditions of Narcotics Anonymous. In addition to NA and counseling, the Magdalene program offers job and financial skills training to the women so that they may live productive lives free of criminal activity. An individual typically leaves the program after two years.

The Magdalene program requires that its participants find work after six months in recovery.

Magdalen House Chicago was invited by Trinity to give a presentation about the its mission for the Chicagoland area in 2016. Magdalene House Chicago is focusing its efforts on establishing a firm foundation within the region.
