You have probably heard about “DACA”, you probably know it has something to do with immigration, but what exactly is it? Join in a conversation designed to help us learn about DACA (Deferred Action for Child Arrivals) as we try to separate fact from fiction. The talk will be a basic overview of the US Immigration system and then take a deeper look at the Deferred Action for Childhood(DACA) policy. The presentation is an opportunity to learn about an issue that is being discussed in the media and elsewhere that concerns members of our society who are in a precarious position. There will be further discussion of the psycho-social implications of being undocumented.

Adult Study: Faith and Science - Beginning June 2

picture of space

The Saturday morning adult study group has decided to begin a new topic on June 2, a discussion of the interaction of religious faith and science. In discussing this topic, we will listen to a series of lectures by Dr. Lawrence M. Principe, Professor of History of Science and Technology, and of Chemistry, at Johns Hopkins University. We will discuss the insights from these lectures. We have also agreed to read a book, Belief in God in an Age of Science, by John Polkinghorne. If you would be interested in joining us, please do so beginning June 2 at 9:30 am. We meet in Room 25 in the undercroft, and try to limit our time to one hour. The series of lectures includes 12 lectures, but with summer and all, we expect to continue until sometime in mid September. We would be delighted to have you participate.
