In December 2022, we began our revitalized ministry to Ahva Care of Winfield, and served 16 of the residents with communion from the reserved sacrament. Some of the residents remembered our team from before, and all of them appreciated our presence. We are continuing this ministry on a monthly basis and looking for volunteers. If anyone would like to join the ministry team, please talk to Deacon Jim or Deacon Brenda. Thank you for considering your participation in whatever capacity makes sense for you.
Each year, parishioners are asked to suggest charities that could benefit from a $500 grant; recipients are selected on the basis of when the request was made. Selections are closed when the available money has been distributed or at the end of January, whichever happens first.
We, along with a number of other churches, help more than 90 families have wonderful Christmases by providing them with food and gifts. There are LOTS of ways to be involved
in a variety of levels (mostly in late Nov. and Dec).
Christmas Sharing is an all-volunteer charitable organization run by a coalition of Wheaton and Warrenville, Illinois churches that provides assistance to families in need during the Christmas season. Families are assisted without regard to their religious affiliation and our goal is to make their holidays a little brighter. The area we serve lies within the geographic boundary of Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200.
Once a month, a group from Trinity delivers meals to residents at the PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) interim housing site in Downers Grove. Although this is not the same experience as when Trinity was an overnight site, having a permanent location for PADS guests has been a real plus for them. For 35 years, DuPagePads has remained a beacon of hope for those with little or no support while experiencing homelessness. Their signature year-round programs feed and shelter individuals and families who are homeless, connect them to case management and other services that can address the underlying cause of their homelessness.
A group of 10-12 people go to Northern Illinois Food Bank to sort food. Volunteers can sign-up for sort and packing dates posted in the Church Center App. NIFB focuses on delivering food and healthy eating services to the Northern Illinois community. As part of the national Feeding America network, the Food Bank is serving 13 counties and providing 250,000 meals per day.
